THIS TIME, THIS PLACE, THIS MOMENT---
watched for months the political campaigns, wishing there was a better way. There is and I think President Elect Obama ran the cleanest, genuine and respectful campaign to date.I wasn't sure who I wanted to vote for or even if I was going to vote at all. There was some slim pickens there. I told myself I would wait until I heard everyone and did my normal go with my gut feeling attitude that I always have done.I really did some soul searching after I heard Oprah in the very beginning, say " I am not voting for Mr. Obama, because he is BLACK, I am voting for Mr. Obama because he is BRILLIAAANNT". It is fair to say I am not a fan of Oprah. I don't want to be a sheep for a woman who is richer than God. I don't care what book she reads, what diet she is on, who she wants to vote for, who she loves, blah, blah, blah. Granted she worked hard for her status in this world, but I am not impressed. I WAS impressed when she was just getting started, but I digress. That was a difficult time for me, I wanted to vote for Hillary at first but again, I wanted to give myself time to listen to all the dialogue. I am glad I waited . Listening to Mr.Obama and watching him very closely and looking into his eyes. I knew he was the one.I have always thought differently than most people my age, I mean the everyday people the real people. I love to take risks even though I am 60. I think outside the box. I love technology. I have always been on the side of the underdog and I have always taught my children that people are people. There is no color. I don't care if someone is gay, I don't ever look at someone and feel superior. I do not judge and I resent anyone that does.I have a United Nations family because, I believe, I taught my children well.I have lived through historical events and I am so blessed that I lived to see a gifted, intelligent, humble, wise and kind MAN become president. I was blessed to hear his speech to the Nation. My 14 year old grand son and I listened to it together while we were on the cell phone. Him in Rockford, IL. Me in Huntington Beach, Ca. He is a bi-racial young man. He looks very much like Obama when he was young. It is amazing. He is amazing. I have a bi-racial grand daughter, and another bi-racial grand son who is an author, by the way. My other 3 grand sons are white. We as a family are Eastern Cherokee, Irish, Sicilian, English, French and oh yes, white. I only use the labels to make a point. I never say bi-racial, especially when it comes to my grand children. I don't believe in labels. So there is my story for now. I am glad Mr Obama won. I know he will face many challenges and I believe that like all of us humans, he will make mistakes and arrogant, holier than tho news reporters and ignorant bigoted people will let the rest of us be very aware of it.I just hope we as a country will come together and fix things that we can. Watch a disaster movie one of these days. "Independence Day " is a good example. The world came together not caring what race or social status everyone was and fought against something outside of our world. Truth is stranger than fiction and I believe that we can come together in the United States to take care of the United States. I would love to see the wealthy who choose to give millions of dollars to other countries and adopt other countries babies and children, take a good look at home where there is hunger, homelessness, pain and parent less children. There are people that don't have a mortgage or children or a business to write off on our taxes. We rent, we work hard and don't get a break. There are many things right here at home that need us ALL to take care of. And yes President Obama--- YES WE CAN.

WE MUST STAND BACK AND RETHINK OUR LIVES-------
In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.
Eleanor Roosevelt
It is time to stand back and take a look at our lives and try to put everything into perspective. I do know how difficult that is, but we must. We are all over-whelmed with the way things are right now in our beloved United States.
We desperately want to blame someone. We are looking to the government or anyone or anything else that can help us. True enough, most of us didn’t ask for this economy or the unemployment due to unscrupulous lenders, real estate agents etc. All I can do is speak for myself.
There is no way in hell, I would have not done a lot of research before I signed paperwork on a house that I knew in my heart I couldn’t afford. I do believe however, there are folks out there that were bamboozled . The older folks or the folks that really had no idea, they just wanted the American dream, a home of their own. Who knows, some of these folks might have thought that in 3-5 years when they had to pay more money for that home, that their circumstances would be better.
I do know though, that some people signed those papers knowing full well, they couldn’t afford the payments on the home. They would just take off when the time comes and to enjoy home ownership as long as they could.
The problem with any of these scenarios is, that the trickle down effect. The banks, the mortgage companies and the realtors knew damn well this could happen, but as usual lived for the moment. They had their commission, so to hell with everyone and everything else. Well it all blew up their collective faces.
We as a people these days want someone to take responsibility for our actions. We call our creditors trying to get out of a bill that is clearly theirs and expect to get a break on it. I can almost guarantee you cannot do that with the utility companies, because no matter what no one knows what the hell the bills mean.
I quit my job because I hated it so much and knew that eventually I was going to crack. I took what small amount of my 401k I had and went back into Real Estate. I am a very honest caring person and I never lied to anyone to get a sale. I was always swimming against the tide on that one.
Never the less, I quit the job, even though I had 7 months of living expenses to get by on. True enough, I didn’t do my due diligence and research the lay of the land. Needless to say I ran out of money and realized that at 60, there aren’t too many jobs out there. I have much education and experience in many areas. That does not matter when you are over 55 and people that say that companies can’t by low discriminate are living in a fairy land!!! I take full responsibility for my actions, I don’t blame anyone but myself. If I have a big credit card bill, a wireless bill, a cable bill etc. I look over that bill with a fine tooth comb and will not call to complain, if I have used more minutes than I should, or order too many On demand movies or have charged too much. I have never asked for a credit, because 9 out of 10 times it was my doing.
There are way too many people that do what ever the hell they want to do and will not take responsibility for their actions. They are spoiled and their kids are spoiled.
Wake up !! You don’t honestly think that OCTU mom didn’t know exactly doing when she got impregnated with all of those embryos ???? She sure as hell did and won’t have anything to do with it.
So please read the quote from Eleanor Roosevelt and think long and hard about the situation we as a nation are in We can’t go on being a nation of victims.

The Greatest Gift We Can Give----
"The greatest gift we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence"----Denis Waitley
Somehow there are people in the country that have forgotten this, if they were ever insightful enough to know it in the first place.
Look around you. This doesn't only apply to the economic fiasco we are now in, but life in general. We have grown women having litters of babies, parents killing their children, people that are crying foul because they haven't taken responsibility for their own actions and people that have been so busy in their every day lives, many of which were trying to keep up with the Joneses, they allowed the powers that be to screw them.
We as a nation can't keep blaming the banks, the government and the wealthy in general for our woes. The only true "color" in this country is GREEN. Of course, there are thousands of exceptions and there were many people that tried to warn us but we just pooh poohed it. The wealthy have always "ran" this country in one form or another. We listen to the media and take what they say as gospel instead of researching things ourselves and actually using the mind God gave us. We follow celebrities like they are not just people. We see how much they get paid for a movie and envy it. We have been sheep that have turned into victims.
It is time to go back to basics and remember to take responsibility. We CAN NOT teach our children these things if we don't practice them ourselves Children live by example, so take a long hard look at how you are living your life before you put blame on someone else for your problems. How can we give a gift we don't have? It isn't too late, we can turn things around, we just have to get together and support the leaders we believe and get rid of the ones that that we don't believe in. Don't give credence to the media, don't keep fueling the fire by watching the programs that make criminals and insane people into celebrities. It is time to take responsibility, teach it to our children and show them what true independence is.

Native American Indian Legends - Cherokee Women - Cherokee
Native American Indian Legends - Cherokee Women - Cherokee
A Cherokee Legend
Women in the Cherokee society were equal to men. They could earn the title of War Women and sit in councils as equals. This privilege led an Irishman named Adair who traded with the Cherokee from 1736-1743 to accuse the Cherokee of having a "petticoat government". Clan kinship followed the mother's side of the family. The children grew up in the mother's house, and it was the duty of an uncle on the mother's side to teach the boys how to hunt, fish, and perform certain tribal duties. The women owned the houses and their furnishings. Marriages were carefully negotiated, but if a woman decided to divorce her spouse, she simply placed his belongings outside the house. Cherokee women also worked hard. They cared for the children, cooked, tended the house, tanned skins, wove baskets, and cultivated the fields. Men helped with some household chores like sewing, but they spent most of their time hunting.
Nancy Ward, or Nan'yehi (nan yay hee), is the most famous Cherokee Beloved Woman. The role of Beloved Woman, Ghigau (Ghee gah oo), was the highest a Cherokee woman could aspire to. A Ghigau had a voice and vote in General Council, leadership of the Woman's Council, the honor of preparing and serving the ceremonial Black Drink, the duty of ambassador of peace-negotiator, and the right to save the life of a prisoner already condemned to execution. One such prisoner was a settler named Mrs. Bean, who was captured in an attack on illegal white settlements on the Watauga (wah tah oo gah) River. Mrs. Bean taught Nan'yehi such skills as spinning, weaving, and the raising of animals, which Nan'yehi in turn taught the rest of the Cherokee. This provided the Cherokee with some food during the winter months, but gave them more work.
The title Ghigau also translates to "War Woman," and Nan'yehi earned the title by taking up her husband's gun when he was slain in a battle against the Creeks and leading her people to victory. Another War Woman, Cuhtahlatah, won honor during the American Revolutionary period by leading Cherokee warriors to victory after her husband fell. She later joined in a vigorous war dance carrying her tomahawk and gun.
It was important to the Cherokee that their losses be compensated with the same number of prisoners, scalps, or lives. Woman led in the execution of prisoners. It was their right and responsibility as mothers. They celebrated the capture of prisoners with song and dance and joined in torture at the stake. Women had the right to claim prisoners as slaves, adopt them as kin, or condemn them to death "with the wave of a swan's wing."
In the Cherokee society your Clan was your family. Children belonged to the entire Clan, and when orphaned were simply taken into a different household. Marriage within the clan was strictly forbidden, or pain of death. Marriages were often short term, and there was no punishment for divorce or adultery. Cherokee women were free to marry traders, surveyors, and soldiers, as well as their own tribesmen.
Cherokee girls learned by example how to be warriors and healers. They learned to weave baskets, tell stories, trade, and dance. They became mothers and wives, and learned their heritage. The Cherokee learned to adapt, and the women were the core of the Cherokee.

It is not Who is right, but What is right---

It is not who is right, but what is right, that is of importance.– Thomas H. Huxley
Ok, I have been trying not to open a can of worms, but alas, I must.
I have been showing a lot of short sales. I have to say, If a Realtor doesn’t want to participate in a short sale, then don’t. If you are going to list one, give it the respect and the showing agents the respect you would if you were making twice as much commission.
I try to get in touch with the Realtor, per the listing. They either do not get back to me at all or say that it is ok to show and the owner of the property has no idea.
I don’t think the “listers”, at least in the 30 showings I have had, really want that listing and really hope that the agent that is showing it will take care of things.
So this is where, it doesn’t matter WHO is right, but WHAT is right, comes in.
If you want to sell that property, then put more pics in the listing, yes we know we want to show the worst possible side of the property, however, we don’t even get to see that most of the time.
I am taking my time and my gas, showing these properties, I suggest some co-operation from not only the listing agent, but the home owner as well.
I would like to see more pics, I want to know if there are a thousand offers on the property and the homeowner just wants a bidding war on something that he or she is losing anyway, doesn’t make sense, sorry I won’t show a property with backup offers, again, doesn’t make me right, just the way I do things.
Nothing is fair about this market, but let’s try to level the playing field and help each other and all involved.
Just my two cents.
